André Brassard, larger-than-life stage director, tireless champion of local and foreign authors and committed professor was at the very heart of Québec's theatre world for over 30 years. From his presence on every stage in the province there remains the dormant memories of images and the living memories of those who experienced his dramaturgy first-hand in the darkness of a playhouse or the intimacy of a rehearsal studio. Échos the exhibition, which interweaves photographs with testimonies, offers new insight into the body of work and journey of a prolific artist who left his mark on Québec's cultural landscape, starting with the theatrical debut of Les Belles-sœurs in 1968.

Curator: Sylvain Schryburt, Professor, Theatre Department, University of Ottawa
